I am captivated by strong compositions, textures and patterns. These images are simplified to their basic essence. I work with both contemporary technical techniques, along with the tactile and traditional methods of paint.
When layering the pigments I preserve the underlying colors and expose them around the transitions of the shapes and the edges that define each shape. This provides a rich history of the process and enables some of the vibrant underlying colors to advance and to sing.
As a pilot, I am interested in abstracting the landscapes from an ariel perspective. Nature has organic lyrical lines contrasted by the hard linear shapes which are evident of mans presence. I appreciate the limitless variety of textures and colors found within nature and seek to capture and work with these as a source of inspiration.
