"I have studied and practiced painting striving to express emotion through a visual language that can connect us through a shared experience of light. Whether it is in a landscape or abstraction or through allegory, ultimately it is only for the purpose of evoking some sort of visceral response to invite the viewer into my world. I have recently taken this quest into the ceramic medium, finding a little more humor and light hearted joy from communicating through clay. Ultimately it is all really the same attempt to use crushed rock, as is pigment, or mud fired into stoneware, to find some sort of grounding and my own connection to this rock we all live on."
